An evening with Teresa James and Friends: Tramp/Babylon Revue
June 3, 2017 at 8:00 PM – 11:00 PM
$25 online pre-pay
$30 at the door
Hello my friends … Steve Brogden here. We just heard one of the best songwriters of our generation in Danny O’Keefe. Now we’re driving south toward Texas blues! BrogdenBay Presentsis delighted to bring blues singer Teresa James back to Thousand Oaks! Come hear this vocal powerhouse along with some of the finest musician in L.A. She can rock with the best of them and then use her sweet soulful vocals to bring back a haunted memory. But it always comes back to her killer voice. That killer voice.
Teresa is playing with musicians from two of my favorite L.A. bands: her own Rhythm Tramps and Babylon Social Club. Snuffy Walden (guitar, Emmy-winner for The West Wing) is a veteran of both bands! Joining Teresa on stage from her Rhythm Tramps are Terry Wilson (bass), and Tony Braunegal (drums). And from Babylon Social Club: Leslie Smith (vocals, percussion), A special guest will be Jeff Paris (keyboards and vocals) who’s been part of Keb Mo’s band the last 10 years.
Originally from Houston, Texas, Teresa is based in Los Angeles and has been working in the LA area and at blues festivals and clubs throughout the US and Europe for many years. For the last 12 years, the band has also been a favorite on Delbert McClinton’s Sandy Beaches Blues Cruise.
I’ve been a fan of Teresa’s for many years now. In fact, Teresa James and the Rhythm Tramps played for my birthday gathering in 2014. I’m not the only one who feels this way about Teresa James!
Levon Helm of The Band said, “Teresa James is a true original. When she sings you can feel it in your bones.”
Graham Clarke for Blues Bytes writes, “Teresa James has a voice that comes from deep down in the soul, as real and authentic as it gets When she sings, you know she means it.”
Teresa has just released a new album, Bonafide and it is some of her best work to date.
Come join the party on June 3rd!

Chuck Cannon grew up in the South Carolina Lowcountry. He is a Southern boy whose voice echoes the R&B, Rock & Roll, Gospel, and Country music he grew up listening to. He is a multi-award winning songwriter who has been covered by an incredibly diverse array of mega-stars ranging from Pop artists such as Paul Carrack (Mike & The Mechanics, Squeeze and Ace) and Shawn Mullins to Country artists George Jones, Willie Nelson, Dolly Parton, Wynonna Judd, George Strait and Toby Keith, to Euro-Pop super-group BoyZone and 80’s rock superstar band NightRanger, and Gospel’s Russ Taff and Bebe Winans.
Chuck’s numerous # 1 and top ten songs have logged over 25 million radio airplays and he has been the recipient of multiple BMI Million-Air awards. His song, “I Love The Way You Love Me,”won the Academy of Country Music Song of the Year. His critically acclaimed solo music projects, GOD SHAPED HOLE, LOVE AND MONEY, and SYMPHONY OF SCARS reflect the depth of his art … the production is haunting with wide open spaces supporting songs that are quite simply, stunning. His spoken-word project, TRUE STORIES AND OTHER LIES: VOLUME ONE, is a collection of soul-deep stories that takes the listener on a breathtaking journey of laughter and tears through the life of an artist of The American South. His 2017 CD, MACHINE, is a wild song ride down back-roads where houses still have tin roofs, screen doors & front porches and rivers run with memories of places we can’t go again – then along sad city streets where dreams are swallowed whole by the cold clanging contraptions of our own making. His wry socio-political commentary takes no sides, save that of common folk who work hard, laugh loud and know only one thing for sure; we are lost without love. His live performances are riveting … no one interprets a song like the writer of the song and Chuck Cannon will leave you wanting more ….
Opening for Chuck is From Different Mothers: Jimmy Yessian and Jeff Kossack whom you know from The Tall Men Group.

August 5, 2017 Brogden Bay Presents
An Evening with Berkley Hart
August 5 at 8:00 AM – 11:00 PM
“If you laugh, you think and you cry, that’s a full day. That’s a heck of a day.”
– Jim Valvano
Steve Brogden here. Those words perfectly describe a Berkley Hart concert. Jeff Berkley and Calman Hart can bring you to tears and make you laugh … in the same song!! And they’ll add some food for thought for good measure. I have seen them several times and I never leave their concerts without a huge grin on my face. It’s a true privilege to present them to you.
This from the Berkley Hart web site:
“Berkley Hart have found something that works. The combination of Kerrville New Folk Songwriter Award winner, Jeff Berkley, and stand-out wordsmith, Calman Hart, creates a pairing that has become one of the premier acoustic duos touring the country. Every Berkley Hart show is packed with entertainment as the duo combines their natural down-home humor with poignant, delicate, masterfully crafted lyrics delivered with stunning harmony and musicianship. Between songs, the obvious camaraderie between these two top songwriters shines as they effortlessly play off each other in what can only be called genuine comedy. Add in virtuoso playing from both Jeff Berkley (guitar) and Calman Hart (guitar, harmonica) and it’s easy to see why the two have become live favorites.
“Both Berkley and Hart emerged from the Southern California coffeehouse circuit, each building sizeable followings of their own before joining forces. As a duo for more than ten years now, they have become fixtures on the folk circuit, making appearances at the Kerrville Folk Festival, as well as playing some of folk’s most prestigious venues including The Birchmere in Virginia and The Bluebird Café in Nashville. In 2005, they staged the first “O Berkley, Where Hart Thou?” a multi-artist extravaganza that features music from the film “O Brother Where Art Thou?” and other ‘old-timey’ tunes.
With a DVD of the first show now available, Berkley Hart have since presented several additional shows, featuring different performers. Additionally, the duo continues the “Berkley Hart House Concert Revolution.” They ask fans to host an annual Berkley Hart show in their own homes and invite the people they know. They’ve played hundreds of house concerts not just in San Diego, but around the country, and have helped establish some now well-known series.”
